Jim was my neighbor, but I never knew his name. I'm an avid walker and Jim was an avid bike rider. I can't tell you how many times I would be walking around the block and we would cross paths, going in opposite directions. We'd always say hello to each other and eventually started small talk as well, although it had to be short since we were passing each other as we spoke. I'd tell my husband about the nice old man I saw all the time while walking, who rode one of those old fashioned bikes that we all used to ride without any gears to switch. I wondered where he lived. One day I was sitting on my front porch and I saw him ride by on his bike. I yelled out, "Hi!", and he smiled and waved as he rode past. I still didn't know who he was. So, the un-relationship continued. All I know is Jim was always smiling, and I admired his dedication to riding his bike as much as he did. I wanted to have a real conversation with him, learn where he lived, what his name was. And I never knew until my next door neighbor showed me Jim's obituary in the Exponent. And there was a picture of Jim, smiling like I remember every single time I saw him on that bike of his. I will miss my bike riding friend. I wonder if he knew how he touched my life?

Dave and Felecia, My heart and thoughts are with you in this time of great loss. Dave, though I didn't know your Dad personally, I came to appreciate him through your wonderful stories about him. As the saying goes, "A tree is known by its fruit" - the great respect and admiration I have for you, Dave, leads me to believe that I would have had great respect and admiration for your Dad, as well. My thoughts are with you, Dave and Felecia, and your family. Wishing you peace, Lauren

We all loved Jim out at Hillsdale Aero. He would come in with a huge smile on his face and always had time to chat. He shared stories about his family and how proud he was of his kids and grandchildren. We lost a good friend the other night. I will miss him deeply. My sympathy to all of you. Ginger
