Abraham Williams Jr. Obituary

Abraham Victor Williams Jr. passed away on December 18, 2024 at Wellbridge of Pinckney in Pinckney MI. He was born on January 1, 1941 in Oneida, NY to Abraham and Pearl Williams.

He grew up in Oneida working on the Williams Family Dairy Farm on West Road. He joined the United States Army in 1960 where he was a member of the 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, KY. After his time in the service he made his way to Tulsa OK for Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) School. Once he acquired his A&P he moved to Ypsilanti MI, where he started his civilian aviation career at Zantop as a mechanic. When Zantop was sold to Universal he stayed on as a Flight Engineer. After Universal he worked for Zantop International. After his time at Zantop International he moved on to Transcontinental as VP of Operations and Maintenance while still acting as a Flight Engineer. From Transcontinental he went to Reliant Airlines as Director of Quality Control. From Reliant he went to TMC Airlines as VP of Maintenance and Operations. He followed those aircraft to Murry Air as VP Maintenance and Operations. National Airlines bought out Murry Air where Abe stayed on as Director of Quality Control. After retiring in 2013 he took a short 6 month break to regroup before getting back into Aviation working for Global until 2024. Throughout his career he was a highly valued Ground School teacher. Abe won the prestigious Charles Taylor Award in 2018. He imprinted on everyone he met, a true legend in Aviation. The stories are endless.

When he wasn’t at the airfield he was home with his family and friends. He was his happiest when he was outside in nature. He enjoyed fishing, cherished his many animals, and cutting wood. He loved his friends and making cider. Those who had the pleasure of having his cider knew he loved his craft. He was an entertainer at heart, there was never a dull moment if Abe was in the room.

September 1st 1991 he married his wife Gloria. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kevin.

He leaves behind his wife Gloria, his sister Kathi, Children; Sybille, Erik, Debbie, and Samantha, Grandchildren; David, Louis, Angele, Justin, Alisha, Abby, Angie, Johnathan, Joey, Elizabeth, Amanda, Landon, Liam, and 12 great-grandchildren.
