Alan Tambe Obituary

Dr. Alan Aaly Tambe, 94, passed away March 30, 2024. He was born on September 6, 1929, in Aleppo, Syria to Abdallah Tambe and Chafica Assouad. Alan married the love of his life, (Margaret) Rosemary Wood, on September 6, 1961 in Denver, Colorado. The couple met at a bus stop in Hawaii, where Alan was pursuing his career in cardiology and Rosemary was visiting her parents and working as a nurse. They eventually settled with their daughters in Cleveland, Ohio where Alan accepted a job at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, and he opened his own practice in later years. He was an early riser and accomplished an enormous amount of work efficiently in order to join his family at the dinner table most nights of the week. Alan became a US citizen in 1971 and embraced everything American. He was a man of few words but a good provider with a big heart and a generous spirit. At home, Alan enjoyed working outside on landscaping projects with Rosemary and on electrical projects and repairs. He often cooked at the weekend, treating Rosemary and his daughters to the Syrian cuisine he had learned to prepare while keeping his mother company in the kitchen when he was a child. After Alan retired, he stayed active in the yard, playing tennis and doing most of the shopping. He and Rosemary cherished their dream home of thirty-eight years, where their children and grandchildren would gather for an extended holiday every summer. In 2019, they decided to relocate to Dexter, Michigan to be closer to family. There, Alan and Rosemary were blessed to remain in their own home until their deaths. Alan made it clear to everyone in recent months that Rosemary’s needs came first. His family and friends believe that he followed her to heaven fourteen days after her death to ensure that his request was being met.

Alan will be missed by his daughters, Cindy (Kevin) Tambe-Clegg and Sheila (Michel) Sourieau; grandchildren Colin, Holly (Noah), Adrien (Aurélie), Alan and Louis; great grandchildren Levi, Charlotte and Apolline; six nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, Alan – the youngest of five – is preceded in death by his brothers, Antoine (Nouhade) and Zafer (Huguette); his sisters, Guitta (Aziz) and Nada (Henri); his niece, Leila, and nephews Abed and Michel; and his granddaughter, Sheila.

Alan’s family will gather at a later date to celebrate both his life and Rosemary’s. Please leave a message of comfort for Alan’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com
