Her Legacy… Aletha May Shirey, 98, passed away March 21, 2025.  She was born on August 2, 1926, in Pontiac, Michigan to Harlan Robinson and Julia (Tibbits) Robinson. Aletha married the love of her life, Jeremiah Shirey, on June 2, 1946, in Howell, Michigan. Aletha and Jeremiah raised buffalo in Hillman, Michigan, where she spent her childhood, before they settled in Pinckney. She was an entrepreneur and owned Alta May’s Beauty Salon in Pinckney. She loved being a hairdresser and kept her license well into her 90’s. Aletha and Jeremiah also owned J.B Manufacturing for over 30 years in Hamburg. They spent the winter months in Lake Wales, Florida where they had a home. In her later years, Aletha lived between Hillman, Michigan and Vero Beach, Florida. Aletha was very outgoing, strong willed and caring. She was a wonderful cook and was very active at church. Aletha was adored by her family and she will be greatly missed.

Her Family… Aletha will be missed by her children, Sandra Knightley, Linda (Vern) Romans, Jeremiah (Despina) Shirey; siblings, Doris Gross, Ruth Fell, Lloyd Haney; grandchildren, Ken (Teresa) Knightley, Jason (Joan) Knightley, Derek Timm, Jeremy (Rachel) Shirey, Jordan (Caitlin) Shirey, James Shirey; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jeremiah Shirey; parents, Harlan and Julia Robinson; sister, Margaret Meyer; and great-granddaughter, Abigail Knightley.
