Her Legacy… Barbara Ann Ratke, 70, passed away December 26, 2020. She was born on November 18, 1950 in Wayne County, Michigan to Arol and Margaret (Collins) Brotherton. Barbara married the love of her life, William “Bill” Ratke, on May 19, 1972 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, at St. Sabastian Catholic Church. Over the years, Barbara held many jobs, working in human resources for AAA, Comerica, and Franklin Bank, as well as working at Marshall Fields, JC Penney, Target, and others. In her free time, she kept busy with baking and canning, as well as arts and crafts, such as ceramics, candle making, needlepoint, and sewing. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to her. Barbara had a big heart. She was very warm and kind, with a great sense of humor. She will be remembered as loving wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, and aunt.

Her Family… Barbara will be missed by her husband Bill Ratke; children, Chris (Kristen Markham) Ratke; grandson, Andrew Hayes; siblings, Thomas Brotherton, Richard (Shelly) Brotherton, MaryBeth (Fred) Mallia; 14 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; and 8 great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Arol Brotherton.

Her Farewell… Barbara’s family and friends will gather from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, 10601 Dexter-Pinckney Rd, Pinckney, MI 48169, until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.  Fr. Dan Kogut will serve as celebrant.
