Barbara Clare (Blackmer) Smith

Her Legacy… Barbara Blackmer Smith, 95, passed away June 27, 2022.  She was born on January 30, 1927, in Detroit, MI to Thomas Blackmer and Corinne (Boehm) Blackmer. Barbara was married to Richard, on August 2, 1947, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Detroit, MI. She will be remembered as a friendly, kind and humble woman who loved her family, her friends, her volunteer work, and was a committed member of Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her time working at Michigan Bell and owning the Toy Box in Brighton. She graduated from Cooley High School in 1945 and attended Wayne State University where she belonged to the Delta Gamma Chi sorority. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and participated with the Brighton Historical Society.

Her Family… Barbara will be missed by her children, Richard Todd Smith (Ava) and Terry Worosz (Michael); siblings; grandchildren Kelly (Greg) Angstrom, Leslie (David) Vosters, Ross (Alicia) Smith, and Brianna (Chris) Potter; great grandchildren Liliana, Reid, Hunter, Charlotte, and Miles; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Polly Dodge.

Her Farewell… Barbara’s Celebration of Life will be held on August 8, 2022 at 11 am (gathering at 10:30 am) at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Brighton, MI.
