Betty Margaret (Schmalzer) Anderson

Her Legacy… Betty Margaret Anderson, 97, passed away June 16, 2026.  She was born on March 25, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ferdinand Schmalzer and Harriett (Kamiske) Schmalzer. Betty married the love of her life, Neil Anderson, on December 7, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Betty cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and family, creating countless memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. Her home was always a welcoming place where family gathered, stories were shared, and everyone felt loved. A gifted and creative soul, she enjoyed crafting, painting, and decorating, bringing beauty and warmth to everything she touched. Her creativity extended outdoors, where gardening became one of her life's greatest passions. Each year she created her own gardens, transforming her yard into a colorful sanctuary filled with blooms she lovingly nurtured from season to season. capturing photographs of the flowers she grew and the family she treasured. She loved traveling to northern Wisconsin, where she vacationed every year. Although she spent 11 years in Las Vegas and 28 years in Michigan, Wisconsin was always home in her heart, having spent most of her life there. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, devotion to family, and her ability to find beauty in everyday life. Her gardens will continue to bloom as a reminder of her loving spirit, and her legacy will live on through the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Her Family… Betty will be missed by her daughter; Karen (Raymond) Woods, grandchildren; Lauren (Steve) Kowats, Alexandria and Daniel Woods, great-grandchildren; Maddin Kowats. She is preceded in death by her husband, Neil Anderson; parents, Ferdinand and Harriett Schmalzer; son Richard Anderson; daughter Kimberly Coolman; brothers Robert and Donald Schmalzer.

Her Farewell… Betty’s Community Farewell will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 8:00AM-9:00AM at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. Her burial will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:00AM, at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
