His Legacy… Billie “Gene” Eugene Bedwell, 91, passed away January 14, 2025. He was born on July 12, 1933, in Friendship, Tennessee to William Bedwell and Bertha (Young) Bedwell. Gene married the love of his life, Nancy Neubert, on January 31, 1958, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Gene served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. After his military work, he worked at Loy’s Restaurants for 10 years. From there he spent the rest of his career in traffic control for the City of Ann Arbor. Gene was a passionate volunteer for Whitmore Lake schools. He sold tickets to all of the schools sporting events and volunteered with their band camp for many years. He never met a stranger and was everyone’s best friend. Gene loved to work with his hands, was an avid hunter and cook. He was a very gentle man and a devout Christian who loved the Lord. He was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Gene loved old hymns and country music. In his later years he loved to color and show off his work. Gene was a loving husband, father, papa, and great-grandpapa; he adored his family. Gene was a joy to know and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His Family… Gene will be missed by his wife, Nancy Bedwell; his children, Michael (Pat) Bedwell, Karen Green; sister, Ruth (Paul) King; grandchildren, Robert (Theresa) Green, Rachel (Adam) Maier; great- grandchildren, R.J., Wyatt, Melody, Quinn, Emry, and Adam III. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Bedwell; and siblings, Doyle, Francis, Corrin, Malcolm, Johnny, Jerry, Rebecca, Linda and Sammie.
His Farewell… Gene’s family and friends will gather Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10:00AM-12:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will follow at 12:00PM.
