Bruno Anthony Chiapparo, 85, of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bruno will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Born on March 25, 1940, in Terrasini, Sicily, Bruno emigrated with his parents to Detroit, Michigan in 1949. He graduated from Nativity High School before continuing his education at the University of Detroit, where he earned a master's degree in history and education. Bruno began his professional career with the Detroit Board of Assessors and later joined the Ann Arbor Board of Assessors before transitioning to a real estate appraisal career, where he worked until his retirement.
In 1967, Bruno met Barbara Uhl, and they were married on January 19, 1968, at St. Alphonsus Church in Dearborn, Michigan. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their two beloved daughters, Mary and Laura. In 1976, the family moved from Detroit to Brighton, Michigan, where Bruno continued his professional career and his active involvement in church and community life.
Bruno was especially proud of his four grandchildren—Jacob, Sean, Grace, and Shane—whose lives he enriched with his presence, love, and guidance. His Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life, shaping his generosity, compassion, and service to others. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bruno’s heart always belonged to Italian soccer.
Bruno also had a wonderful sense of humor and a love of simple joys. He rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy! and was always ready for a friendly (and competitive) family game night. He loved history, opera, and the Latin language, and his family will long remember his delight in explaining where words came from and what their Latin roots really meant.
Bruno is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Mary Chiapparo and Laura (Jamie) McCloughan; sisters, Mary Grace Quinn and Cheryl Munro; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Francesca, father Filippo, grandmother Filippa, and uncles Giuseppe and Angelo.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, from 4-8pm (Rosary at 7pm) at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, 1700 W. Highland Road, Howell, MI 48843.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 25th, at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 9565 Musch Road, Brighton, MI 48116, with internment immediately following at Holy Spirit Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul, Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Brighton, MI.
We will hold Bruno’s memory close and honor him by living with the same generosity and love he showed us. Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by the beautiful memories we carry and by knowing he is at peace in Heaven.
