Her Legacy… Camilla Marie Dixon, 99, passed away January 13, 2025. She was born on October 21, 1925, in Dexter, Michigan, to Howard Dunn and Adeline (Brandt) Dunn. She was the fourth of six children, four boys and two girls. She graduated from Ypsilanti High School and went to work for the payroll office at the Willow Run Bomber plant at age 17. On April 18, 1945, she married the love of her life, Maynard L. Dixon while he was still in the Army Air Corps. They were married for 51 years, until Maynard’s death on November 8, 1996. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor of personnel in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Camilla loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and competitive shooting. She was a life member of the Livingston Gun Club, NRA member, strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and various other organizations through the years. Camilla finally gave up deer hunting at 86. Life was always an adventure for her; trips to the western states, especially Wyoming with family on rock hounding expeditions.
Her Family… Camilla is survived by her son, Maynard Joseph “Joe” (Victoria) Dixon; grandchildren, Mychal (Jennifer) and Erin (Michael); eight great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene; numerous nieces and nephews; along with many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard L. Dixon; and parents, Howard and Adeline Dunn.
Her Farewell… Camilla’s family and friends will gather Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00PM-8:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Old St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fr. John Vinton will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Livingston Gun Club, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Memorial contributions may be given to family for future designation.
