Her Legacy… Carol Ann Vereecke, 80, passed away January 31, 2020. She was born on January 18, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to George Kushner and Mary (Skomra) Kushner. Carol married the love of her life, John Vereecke, on June 19, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan. They have enjoyed 54 wonderful years. She will be remembered as loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol loved to travel. One of her favorite places to go was Lourdes, France where she would collect Holy Water to bring back to her grandchildren to pass out to their classmates and bringing blessed rosaries to have as presents. Spending time with her family and going up to their lake cottage was full of many memories including searching for Petoskey stones along the shoreline. She also loved baking, cooking, cross stitching and sewing for everyone.
Her Family… Carol will be missed by her loving husband John Vereecke; her children, Kevin Vereecke, Kristen (Bob) Vereecke Berry, and Thomas (Susan) Vereecke; and grandchildren, Allie Berry, Bobby Berry, Annalise Berry, Kevin Vereecke, and Lindsay Vereecke. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Kushner.
Her Farewell… Carol’s family and friends will gather Monday, February 3, 2020 from 3:00-8:00pm (7:00pm scripture reading) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, 7425 E. M-36, Hamburg, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am (9:30am gathering) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton, Michigan. Father Joe Campbell will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
