Carol Jean Whalen-Blaylock, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2020, of natural causes. She was born September 5, 1940, in Flint Michigan to Harley and Evelyn Beeman (Roth). Carol was a colorful, free-spirited, independent woman who loved two men in her life, James Clinton Whalen (preceded her in death, May 2019) and Charles Foster Blaylock whom she married on August 10, 1996. They resided happily in Brighton, Michigan. Her compassionate and giving spirit led to her career choice as a registered nurse. She also volunteered for many community service organizations. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, John 10:17-18, “The Father loves me because I lay down my life that I may have it back again. No one can take my life from me. I lay down my life voluntarily. For I have the right to lay it down when I want to and also the power to take it again. For my Father has given me this command.”
Carol is survived by her loving husband Chucker who has been by her side since 1974, her brother; Charlie Roth, her four children; Leslie Thurlow-Woodward (Larry), Lisa Jeffreys (Joe), Linda Whalen (Ben) and Chip Whalen (Amy). She adored her grandchildren; Jacob (Meghan), Joshua, Tyler, Maxwell, Dalton, Olivia, Charlie and Jonah, great-grandchildren; Quinn, Camryn, and Deacon along with many nephews and nieces. All of whom she loved and touched deeply. Following cremation, visitation with social distancing will take place at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, 7425 M-36, Hamburg MI on Thursday, July 23rd from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating an hour or two of your time to your favorite local charity.
