Her Legacy… Catherine Ann Hines, 92. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. Catherine was born in Milltown, New Jersey, to Joseph and Madeline Howarth on October 6, 1932, the fourth of eleven children. After high school she and her brother enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, in 1950, making history by being the first brother and sister in boot camp at the same time. There she met the love of her life, Russell D. Hines, whom she married in 1951. She was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1952. They had 4 children, Russell, Terri, Valarie, and Robert. Catherine was known for her kindness, patience, generosity and great sense of humor. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing games, especially cards and Scrabble with her family and friends. She worked for many years in the banking business and volunteered at the local elementary school.
Her Family… Catherine will be missed by her children, Russell (Elizabeth) Hines Jr., Terri (Bruce) Mackenzie, Valarie Roberts, Robert (Lynne) Hines; brother, Henry Howarth; grandchildren, Jill Mackenzie, Kristin (Trinity) Mackenzie, Jeremy (Adrina) Hines, Julianne (Kevin) Klucka, Travis (Tessa) Roberts, Shelby Roberts, Margaret (Jordan) Radabaugh; great grandchildren, Lucas, Leo, Maxx, Jaxson, Brody, and Haylee She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hines; parents, Joseph and Madeline Howarth; 4 brothers; 5 sisters; and great grandson, Russell Jax Johnson.
Her Farewell… Catherine’s family and friends will gather Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 3:00PM-7:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel in Hamburg, Michigan. Her Memory Service will follow at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice.
