His Legacy… Charles Binder, 90, passed away February 9, 2026.  He was born on August 10, 1935, in Tawas City, Michigan to Russell Binder and Leona (Brown) Binder. A 1955 graduate of Tawas High School, Charles enjoyed playing high school sports as well as being active with 4-H. Charles met the love of his life, Jean McLeod while she was vacationing with her family in Tawas and the two were married on March 29, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan. They spent 40 years raising a family in Sterling Heights before building their retirement home in National City, Michigan.  Charles spent many years in the commercial building industry and worked for Churches Lumber for over 30 years, finishing his career with Gilbert Construction Company as a project manager. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, taking great pride in his granddaughters. Charles was an extremely handy man who could fix anything with a piece of wood.   He was a huge sports fan and found great peace in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his wife, Jean.

His Family… Charles will be missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Jean Binder; his children, Michele (Brian) Coltman; grandchildren Megan (Brandon), Sarah (Adam), Natalie; great grandchildren Carter, Cayden; along with some nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Leona Binder; daughter, Julie Guffey; brother, Robert Binder.

His Farewell… Charles’ family and friends will gather from 1-3 pm with a 3pm Community Farewell Service, on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell, Michigan. A burial will take place on a later date at Pioneer Cemetery in Grant Township, Michigan.
