His Legacy…Clayton (Bud) Russell Owens, 87, passed away January 28, 2025.  He was born on October 1, 1937, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Raymond Owens and Helen (Smith) Owens. Clayton married the love of his life, Patricia Hawley, on October 30, 1959, in Waterford, Pennsylvania. Clayton worked in management at Farm Credit, retiring after more than 30 years. He was a faithful servant to the Lord and enjoyed listening to different sermons from around the world. Clayton and his wife, Patricia, volunteered for many different organizations. They worked with Garlow Literature East Asia Ministry (GLEAM), distributing Bibles and Sunday school materials free to national pastors in Asia, India, Africa, and the Pacific Islands. Clayton and Patricia also volunteered with the Mennonite Central Committee, sewing quilts, and preparing school kits and first aid kits for distribution. Clayton preached the gospel of Jesus to the inmates of Mercer State Penitentiary for 10 years. He was a good listener and mentor to many young adults. Clayton loved sports of all kinds. He was a very dedicated and loving father and husband and he adored his grandchildren. Clayton will be remembered as a wonderful Christian man who selflessly helped many people. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.   

His Family… Clayton will be missed by his children, Major General Bryan R. (Jennifer) Owens, U.S. Army, Retired, Cynthia L. (David) Gardner, Susan L. (Scott) Graham; brother, Thomas Owens; grandchildren, J. Shawn (Kayla) Pierrel, Tanner Graham, Clayton (Cayla) Graham, Jesse (Cassidy) Graham, Isaac (Makayla) Graham, Ashley (Rafael) Castro, Stephanie (Amr) Owens, Rachel Owens; Great grandchildren, Jacques Pierrel and Felicity Castro. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Owens; parents, Raymond and Helen Owens; and infant son, Gregory Owens.  

His Farewell… Clayton’s Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Hiawatha Bible Church, 6415 Buckshore Drive, Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Pastor Jerry Wichert will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hiawatha Bible Church.
