His Legacy… Clyde Richard “Rick” Wilson, 79, passed away April 1, 2024. He was born on May 19, 1944, in Urbana, Illinois to Clyde Wilson and Annie (Anderton) Wilson. Rick married the love of his life, Kathryn Scholz, on August 12, 1967, in Newark, New Jersey. Rick was a proud Navy veteran, serving 4 years of active duty. After leaving the military he worked as an electrician at General Motors for over 40 years. Rick was “Mr. Fix It” and loved tinkering with things, he could fix just about anything. He loved being outside gardening, mowing the lawn, or plowing snow. Rick and Kathy loved traveling all over the country. Some of their favorite places to travel were out West, North East, Maine and the U.P. Rick loved rock hounding at Petoskey and on the shoreline of Lake Superior. He really enjoyed fishing in Florida and hunting deer in Michigan. Rick was an enthusiastic U of M football fan, GO BLUE! He also enjoyed playing Euchre. Rick loved cars and directed the AWANA Grand Prix Derby for many years. He also had an impressive knife collection. Rick enjoyed helping people and never wanted any recognition for it. He was an AWANA leader at church for over 30 years and he loved his church family. Rick had a great sense of humor and liked to tease his loved ones. He was a hot dog aficionado, especially enjoying Bill’s Hot Dogs in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Rick adored his family and he will be greatly missed.
His Family… Rick will be missed by his loving spouse Kathy Wilson; his children, Richard Wilson, Andrew (Lauren) Wilson, Paul (Heather) Wilson; siblings, Cindy, Cathy, Bobby, Matt, Mark; grandchildren, Trevor Wilson, Troy Wilson, Addison Wilson, Layne Wilson, Henry Wilson, Matilda Wilson. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Wilson; mother, Annie Ruth Sanders; brothers, Larry Wilson, Avery Sanders, B.H. Sanders Jr., Jackie Sanders; grandparents, Callie and Walter Wilson.
His Farewell… Rick’s family and friends will gather Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4PM-8PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Hiawatha Bible Church, Hamburg, Michigan. Pastor Jerry Wichert will serve as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
