Colin McDonald Jr. Obituary

His Legacy…Colin James McDonald Jr, 81, passed away on October 24, 2022.  He was born on November 10, 1940, in Dearborn, Michigan to Colin McDonald Sr. and Marion (Henderson) McDonald. Colin married the love of his life, Kathleen McCotter, on September 12, 1980, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Colin, will be remembered as a man whose life spoke through his music. “Jimmy,” as he was known in his younger days, worked as a farmer with a love for gardening and opened a produce store and even a produce wagon. He would freely share his vegetables and fruit with everyone. Colin was known as “CJ Mac” when he started DJing events and recording his own music as a singer songwriter. He possessed a deep desire to share his music with the world. He also had the distinct pleasure of knowing many famous musicians from Motown.   Colin was loved by people of all ages and generations while also investing himself to bring justice and right wrongs wherever possible. While the practice of religion was off-putting for Colin, his life of service and the music he offered illustrated the condition of his heart and the kind of world for which he was dedicated.

His Family… Colin will be missed by his wife Kathie; his children, Renee (Pat), Mark, Robin, Brent, Marti (Dave), Matthew (Tamara), Kristen (Ricky), and Emilie (Mark); grandchildren Jared, Zackary (Jamie), Jacob, Trevor (Samantha), Torin, Chase (Josie), Carley, Amber, Dalton, Myia (Justin), Alaina, Andrew (Noelia), Ashley (Richard), Michael (Nicolette), Jessyca (Ian), Joshua, Austin, Zac, and Luke; great grandchildren, Grace, Wilder, Wyatt, Kaylee, Ashlyn, Natalie, AJ, Lucas, Migell, Jacob, Isabella, Lily, Jackson, and Alice. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Barbara; his brother Bobby; and his nephew Pat.
