Her Legacy… Coreta Bernice Jeffreys, 89, passed away November 27, 2022.  She was born on October 10, 1933, in Lansing, Michigan to John and Eleanor (Bushnell) Thyne. Coreta married the love of her life, John (Jack) Jeffreys, on November 30, 1957 in Pinckney, Michigan. Coreta will be remember as a loving wife, mom, grandma, grandma-great, aunt and dear friend to many. As a teenager Coreta worked in her Aunt’s bakery where she perfected the crispy molasses cookie and special sour cream coffee cake – both are family favorites and will always have a place on the table. Coreta had great style and poise and although didn’t brag about it, as a young lady earned the title of runner-up in a Miss Livingston County pageant. In 1989, when Jack’s work led them to Traverse City from Livingston County where they had lived and raised their family, Coreta embraced this change and would head out exploring the area finding beautiful beaches to take the grandchildren during their summer visits. She took pride in mastering the snowblower and keeping a pristine driveway regardless of lake effect accumulations. Coreta made amazing new friends during this time only enhancing the many relationships she treasured. In addition to mastering the duties of raising four children, several companies benefited from Coreta’s strong work ethic and reliability as she completed tasks of her various administrative/clerical positions including Michigan Bell, AT&T, University of Michigan, and Prevo’s Family Markets. Coreta loved the outdoors and was an avid walker covering many miles enjoying her surroundings and spent many hours watching the Detroit Tigers. She loved displaying and sharing about the many keepsakes she collected from her childhood and from her loved ones. Her faith was strong and she lived by the comforting words of the Serenity Prayer. Coreta loved time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Her Family… Coreta will be missed by her children, Tom (Jeanette) Jeffreys, James (Cindy) Jeffreys, Joe (Lisa) Jeffreys, Lisa (Tom) Connolly; grandchildren, Jake Jeffreys, Erin (Tom) Etchepare, Tara (Dustin Pelland) Jeffreys, Pat Lavey, Zack Lavey; great grandchildren, Aubreana, Quinn, Camryn, Deacon, Fiona, Jack, and Emma. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jeffreys; parents, John and Eleanor Thyne; brothers, Richard Thyne and John Scott Thyne; sister, Arlene Thyne Aseltine; and grandson, Josh Jeffreys.

Her Farewell… Coreta’s family and friends will gather from 5PM-8PM, Friday, December 9th, 2022 at Shalom Lutheran Church, Pinckney, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will be held at 10:00AM (9AM gathering), Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at Shalom Lutheran Church. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant.
