Chiaravalli, Dale
Pinckney, Michigan
Dale Sereno Chiaravalli, 81, of Pinckney, Michigan passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family on January 31, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 13, 1939. Dale graduated from Pershing High School in 1959 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1963 as a military police officer, stationed in Adak, Alaska, and at Camp Pendleton in California. Dale then returned to Michigan, met and married the love of his life in 1965, Barbara Ann (Kress) Chiaravalli and built a loving family of six.
Dale was an accomplished swimmer and basketball player, and was recruited and hired by Ford Motor Company to work and play for the company’s basketball team in 1964. Dale retired from Ford after a 35-year career, during which he ascended their ranks a great distance (to Shift Superintendent) from his humble beginnings as a forklift operator. He spent his retirement as a devoted and proud grandfather, while residing on Bear Lake in Kalkaska MI, and snowbirding in Florida. His fondness for snowmobiling, jet skiing, and support for local athletic teams are shared and passed along to his loving family.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara, two sons, Gary (Holly) and David (Fernanda) Chiaravalli, two daughters, Susan (Souhel) Zaitounh and Julie Chiaravalli, five grandchildren, Deena, Maya, Noor, Cecilia and Lucas, and two brothers, George and Bill Motts.
Dale’s private farewell for immediate family will be held at St Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney, MI on February 3, 2021. Father Dan Kogut will serve as celebrant. He will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Detroit Capuchin Soup Kitchen at www.cskdetroit.org, or to COLIMA (Community Libraries of Malawi) at 4235 N Kerby Ave, Portland OR 97217. Please leave a message of comfort for Dale’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign her guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
