Daniel Bardel Obituary

Daniel Bardel passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 21, 2021, at the age of 61. He fought a tough, three week battle for his life following complications from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.

Danny valued his family above everything. He was married to the love of his life, Dina Bardel, for over 35 years. He was the devoted and protective father to Rhiannon (Nathan), Jamie, Brett, and his two dogs Chester and Charlie. He also loved playing with his grandpups, Zeke and Milo. He was the big brother who was always there for his siblings Kenny Bardel and Debbie (Roger) Cebulski, and brother-in-law to Kim (Mike) Jajko, Darla Lorelli, and Lana (Rob) Jajko. He was the goofy, fun-loving uncle to Louis, Nicole (Ian), Zak, Matt, Mikey, Shannon, Nick, Mario, Chris, Lacey, and Matthew.  He was a loving son-in-law to Roy and the late Sylvia Williams.

Danny was born to Patricia and the late James Bardel in 1960 in Detroit. He graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn in 1978.  Following graduation, he was a loyal worker at Univar for nearly 38 years. He married Dina in 1986 and the two spent many years exploring tropical islands, participating in bowling leagues, and traveling for softball games. In 1995, they moved to Brighton to raise their family.

Danny was an athlete at heart. He grew up playing basketball and softball. Some of his favorite memories were from his years playing softball and traveling with all of his softball buddies. His love for sports continued when his children started playing sports. He was their biggest cheerleader and attended almost every practice and game. You always knew when Danny was at a game because he never missed an opportunity to cheer and show his support (and sometimes embarrass his kids with his loud shouts!). More recently, he enjoyed taking long bike rides with Dina around their neighborhood.

He had a generous heart of gold. His loyalty was second to none and he was an unwavering protector. He was happiest when he was with his family. He loved family vacations, dinners, and parties. You could always find him cracking jokes and trying to make everyone laugh, acting like the “big kid” he was.  His favorite activity was sitting around a bonfire with his family on a clear summer night, while his music was playing through the speaker. He always made sure his family knew how much he cherished spending time with them.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Neuro-ICU staff at the University of Michigan Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion over the past three weeks.
