His Legacy… David Louis Miechiels, 82, of Howell, Michigan, passed away on August 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 9, 1942, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Cyril Miechiels and Elizabeth (Weissgerber) Miechiels, David lived a full and hardworking life marked by dedication to his deep faith, family and friends.

David was the owner and operator of Miechiels Auto Salvage starting in 1975, where he built a reputation for integrity, innovation, and commitment to sustainability. His tireless work ethic, guidance and leadership were valued by his employees, customers, and peers alike.  After retirement, David enjoyed going to car shows with his beloved mercury’s and doing woodworking where he made many bowls, pens, bird houses and tables and gave them away to friends and family.

Outside of work, David was a kid at heart and loved to play. He found joy in activities such as spending time up north at the cabin hunting, fishing, boating, and riding ATV’s around his property. He also enjoyed his motorcycle trips with his wife, seeing all the sites of the United States. He will be remembered always with love, respect, and gratitude.

His Family… David was the devoted husband of Janet Miechiels for 58 years, a proud father of Matthew (Laurie) Miechiels, Corey (Melissa) Miechiels; brother of Violet (Phil) Dryer; grandfather to David Miechiels, Zachary (Alissa) Miechiels, Jordan Miechiels, Toni Miechiels, Ashley Wein, Jordan Crandall; great grandfather to Beau, Athena, Ellie and Lilah. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Cyril and Elizabeth Miechiels, and his brother, James Miechiels.

His Farewell… David’s family and friends will gather 4:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell Memorial Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held at 1:00 PM, (12:00 PM Gathering) on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Howell, Michigan.
