Dennis Evans Obituary

Evans, Dennis

Brighton, MI

His Legacy…

Dennis Wayne Evans, 88, passed away on January 21, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1937, in Excelsior, West Virginia, to George Evans and Lydia (Mahome) Evans. Dennis enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. His intelligence, discipline, and dedication quickly distinguished him, earning numerous letters of recognition throughout his military career. Two years after enlisting, he met the love of his life, Beverley Willis. They were married on October 22, 1957, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. During his service, Dennis was stationed in multiple locations, including Wichita, Nebraska, and Denver, and spent four years in Puerto Rico and two years in the Philippines. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Dennis and his family moved to Michigan to be closer to loved ones.

Dennis continued his career at the University of Michigan, where he worked as an engineer for 21 years and remained another 13 years in a semi-retired capacity. In retirement, Dennis and Beverley embraced their love of travel, spending many winters in Texas and exploring the country by motor home. Dennis found joy in golfing, hunting with family, and square dancing with Beverley. Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His Family…

Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Beverley Evans; his children, Donna (Dale) Wilson, Tami (Charlie) King, and Kevin (Patricia Clouatre) Evans; his siblings, Roger Evans and Irene Click; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lydia Evans; his granddaughter Jennifer Wilson, his brothers, Walter Evans, Robert Evans, and Jerry Evans; and his sister, Betty Behr.
