His Legacy…Donald James Cataldo, 89, passed away May 27, 2021. He was born on December 31, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to Pasquele Cataldo and Gertrude (Riley) Cataldo. Donald married the love of his life, Marion (DeMeere) Cataldo, on January 21, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. Donald will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Donald made many memories coaching baseball and playing on the Detroit Edison team, and was a lifelong fan of all things baseball. He was an active member of his communities American Legion and VFW. Donald proudly served his country in the Korean War where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His Family… Donald will be missed by his wife, Marion; his children, Sharon (Johnny) Flores, Donald (Rebecca) Cataldo, and Patrick (Tiffany) Cataldo; grandchildren, Katie, Jenna, Kamdyn and Cade. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pasquele and Gertrude Cataldo and his past teammates of The Golden Pheasants Baseball Team, whom he played with and managed for nine years.
His Farewell… Donald’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM (10:00 gathering). . The Reverend Bill Donahue will serve as celebrant.
