His Legacy… Donald Louis Diener, 80, passed away March 18, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1944, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Elmer Diener and Ella (Kerner) Diener. Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years. After his military service, he attended Wayne State University and earned his bachelor’s in 1970. Donald married the love of his life, Cheryl Cole, on December 14, 1973, in Troy, Michigan. He spent most of his career working in the banking industry, and became a commercial loan officer. He was incredibly smart and business oriented. He earned his master’s in business management in 1986 from Central Michigan University. He retired from National City Bank in 2001. Don loved working on projects and repairing items. He enjoyed yard work and kept a meticulous, manicured lawn. Don had a passion for tennis, he played competitively and participated in many tournaments. He stayed very active and enjoyed golf. Don was private and quiet, but had close relationships with his family and friends and he adored his grandchildren. Don was greatly loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
His Family… Donald will be missed by his daughter, Holly (Ryan) Schell, brothers, David (Sue) Diener, Lowell “Butch” Diener; grandchildren, Joe Schell, Bobby Schell; and sister-in-law, Linda Diener. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Diener; parents, Elmer and Ella Diener; brother, Gary Diener; and sister, Beverly Miller.
