His Legacy… Donald Dean Fuller, age 87, passed away May 17, 2023. He was born on April 10, 1936, in Milan, Michigan to Leon and Mary (Gallop) Fuller. Don was married to the love of his life, Jane Smith, for over 64 years. They were married on June 21, 1958 at First United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Don’s mantra in life was “God, Family, and Country.” He was very spiritual; he and Jane belonged to Arise Methodist Church for over 20 years. Don adored his family, and was always at his kids’ and grandkids’ events. He also provided a family haven with his cottage up North, where generations of family and friends would gather together. Don was very patriotic, and served his country in the Navy for 4 years from 1955 through 1959 on the U.S.S. Comstock. He raised his family in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and later retired with Jane to Pinckney, Michigan in 2002. Don enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and traveling. Don’s legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.
His Family… Don will be missed by his wife, Jane; his children, Deborah (Christopher) Thomas and Donald (Nanci) Fuller; sisters, Marjorie Fahndrich and Bette Richardson; grandchildren, Anthony (Mary) Thomas, Nicholas (Megan) Thomas, Brooke (Ryan) Ernst, and Ryan Fuller; great grandchildren, Dean, Jack, Nora, Carter, and Riley; brother-in-law, Tom (Karen) Smith; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Austin; brothers, Melvin and Robert, sister, Ruth Ann, his parents, Leon and Mary Fuller; and his life-long friend, Jay Hickman.
His Farewell… Don’s family and friends will gather Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel in Hamburg, Michigan. His Community Farewell will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00am (10am gathering) at Arise Methodist Church in Pinckney, Michigan. Pastor Reed will serve as celebrant. Service will be followed by military honors and a luncheon at Arise. His burial will follow at 3:30pm at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Arise Methodist Church, Trinity Health Michigan Heart, or to Arbor Hospice.
