His Legacy…Donovan “Donnie” Gilbert Ferguson II, 60, passed away June 3, 2021.  He was born on March 18, 1961, in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Donovan G. Ferguson and Jean (VanSickle) Ferguson. Don graduated from Willow Run High School in 1979. He married the love of his life, Kay DeClaire, on October 9, 1982, in Manchester, Michigan. Don was an insurance professional for over 43 years, working as an award-winning branch manager for AAA, a Farmer’s Insurance Agency owner, and a client service assistant for Hylant. His proudest accomplishment was being a devoted husband and father. Don cherished spending time with family, sharing stories of the past, taking snowmobile trips up north, and going boating on the chain of lakes. He was extremely supportive and took great interest in his daughter’s career in conservation and marine biology. Don could often be found working on projects or relaxing in his garage, going for a ride in his truck, watching sports, playing Euchre, and enjoying the outdoors. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved deer hunting, fishing, and being on the water, whenever possible. A dedicated family man, Don loved and supported his family more than anything. He brightened up any room he walked into with his infectious smile and laugh. Don was caring, charismatic, adventurous, and strong-willed, never giving up when times were tough. He will be remembered as a devoted and proud husband and father, and a loving friend to many.

His Family… Don will be missed by his wife, Kay Ferguson; his daughter, Kacie Ferguson; Siblings, Mike (Lynne) Ferguson, John (Julie Rhen) Ferguson, Lynne (Tommy) Meyers, Kathy Szabo, Donna Jeppesen;  Cousin, Glenn (Sue) Hilge; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donovan and Jean Ferguson, and brother-in-law, Martin Jeppesen.

His Farewell… Don’s family and friends will gather on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel, Michigan. His Community Farewell will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Pastor Don Albright will serve as celebrant.
