Douglas Christensen Obituary

His Legacy… Douglas Peter Christensen, 76, passed away on March 20th, 2026. He was born on May 31st,1949, in Lansing, Michigan to Peter and B. Lucile (Brooks) Christensen. Doug married the love of his life, Jereva Williams, on June 7th, 1969, in Twin Lake, Michigan. Doug grew up in Lansing, Michigan, helping at his family’s restaurant, The West Gate. Those early years shaped his appreciation for hard work, community, and connection, values he carried throughout his life. He graduated from the University of Michigan with an accounting degree. Doug was a lifelong lover of music; his favorite genre was brass music. He was especially known for his skill and enthusiasm playing the euphonium, though his musical talents extended to many instruments. For years, he shared his gift with others as a proud member of the Dexter Community Band and the Celebration Brass at Shalom Life Church, where his presence, both musical and personal, will be deeply missed. Doug had a deep love for the water. He spent 43 wonderful years living on Portage Lake, where he embraced the rhythm of lake life. In the early years he enjoyed competing in sailboat racing. Throughout the years he enjoyed taking friends and family for rides on his pontoon up the river to Zukey Lake. He loved to relax with his dog Pepper and fish with his son-in-law Todd. Doug dedicated much of his working life to the Better Made Chip Company as the VP of finance, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature. Doug also loved playing cards with family playing Euchre, Cribbage and Rummi Kub. Through his later years Doug found a passion for reading. Doug was also a longtime member of Shalom Life Church in Pinckney.

His Family… Doug will be missed by his wife Jereva Christensen; his children Breandan (Jennifer) Christensen, Jenn (Todd) Millspaugh; his brother Paul (Carol) Christensen; his grands who lovingly called him Fa, Kaetlyn (Drew) Stone, Jonathan (Dani) Jackson, Aurora (Ash) Christensen, Leo Christensen and Rayne (Caleb) Millspaugh; his exchange children Henrik Luneborg, Ann Thor, Verena Mohr-Burger and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and B. Lucile Christensen and his stepfather Jim Faragher.
