His Legacy… Douglas Joseph Harvey Jr., 91, passed away November 22, 2023.  He was born on February 15, 1932, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Douglas J. Harvey Sr. and Violet (Link) Harvey. Doug married the love of his life, Margaret Radtke, on January 17, 1951, in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Doug graduated from Ann Arbor High School and then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. Doug wore many different hats over the years. He was an entrepreneur, he owned “Harvey’s Bar” in Saline, Michigan, Able Testing Company, and Deep Valley Produce. Doug was the Washtenaw County Sheriff from 1964-1972, he was the youngest Sheriff to be sworn in for the State of Michigan. He also drove for Getaway Bus Lines and was a substitute bus Driver in Dexter, Michigan. Doug was a proud member of the Ann Arbor American Legion Post #46 for 45 years. He was incredibly patriotic and worked to have a flag pole put in at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Doug was a die-hard U of M fan. He was louder than life and adored his family. Doug was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Go Blue!!

His Family… Doug is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Harvey; his children, Robert (Terri) Harvey, Terri Heller, Michael (Susan) Harvey; grandchildren, Amy, Todd, Stefani, Joey, Tracie, Elizabeth (Derek), Mindy, Halley (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Heather, Andrew, Kristen, Hannah, Quinton, Ben, Dax, Jett, Kalyn, Hayden, Gracie, Avery; great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane. He is preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Violet Harvey; brother, Garry Harvey; and sister-in-law, Maureen Harvey.

His Farewell… Doug’s family and friends will gather Monday, November 27, 2023, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home. His Community Farewell will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home. Father John Rocuswill serve as celebrant.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Washtenaw County Shop With A Cop, or Ann Arbor American Legion Post #46.
