His Legacy…Duane Edwin Hicks, 81, passed away September 25, 2022.  He was born on December 21, 1940, in Plymouth, Michigan to Edwin Hicks and Gertrude (Miller) Hicks. Duane married the love of his life, Sheryl Wood Hicks, in Houghton, Michigan. Duane was a proud Navy veteran, and served four years on the USS Enterprise CVN 65. He was a diehard U of M fan and loved to tease his nieces about their choice to go to Ohio State. Duane was an electrician at U of M for many years. He enjoyed watching and betting on sports games with his buddies. Duane also hunted and fished. He loved to tinker around with projects and was also quite the jokester. He grew his own hot peppers and loved to share them with friends. Duane was a joy to know and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His Family… Duane will be missed by his children, Kelly (Jeff) Knight, Mike Hicks; brother, Rick Hicks; grandchildren, David (Brittany) Knight, Joshua Knight, Victoria Knight, Katie Hicks, Shannon Hicks, Emily Hicks, Hannah Hicks; great-grandchildren, Piper Knight, Hunter Knight; and nieces, Shelley(Bob)Batchelor, Amy(Craig)Althauser. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl Hicks, parents, Edwin & Gertrude Hicks; and son, Mark Hicks.

His Farewell… Duane’s family and friends will gather Friday, September 30, 2022, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg, Michigan. His Community Farewell will follow at 1:00PM. Pastor Mark Fuller will serve as celebrant. A luncheon will follow services at the Dexter American Legion, Post 557.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice.
