His Legacy… Edmund Anthony Ferguson, 81, passed away on September 17, 2023. He was born on October 27, 1941, in Hamtramck, Michigan to Edmund L. Ferguson and Lydia (Wyborny) Ferguson. Ed married the love of his life, Janice Mellon, on July 28, 1962, in Wayne, Michigan. They were married for 61 years.
Ed worked his way through the ranks of the fire department where he retired as a Battalion Chief in the fire inspection division in 1994 after 25 years of service. He loved working for the fire department! Ed was a hardworking man who cared for his family and cherished them deeply. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and compassion for others! The most important thing to Ed was his family and the time they spent together. We are deeply lost, but we will look to his guidance for inspiration.
His Family… Ed will be missed by his wife, Janice Ferguson; his children, Tammy (Gavin Johnson) Ferguson, Keith (Maureen) Ferguson; siblings, Ken (Shirley) Ferguson, Gwen (Andy) Moore, Jackie (Len) Reaume; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Slade, Delainey (Jacob Bond) Ferguson; great-grandchild, Cameron Slade. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Lydia Ferguson; sister, Maryann (Catholic nun) Ferguson; brothers, Tim Ferguson, and Ron Ferguson; beloved son Kevin Ferguson.
His Farewell… Ed’s family and friends will gather Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4:00PM-8:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering). Pastor Roger Bauer will serve as celebrant.
