Edward Blacklaw Obituary

His Legacy… Edward “Ned” Truckey Blacklaw, 68, passed away May 18, 2020.  He was born on August 28, 1951, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Edward Blacklaw and Florence M. (Truckey) Blacklaw. Ned grew up in Chelsea, Michigan, one of 5 children of Edward “Scotty” and Florence Blacklaw.  He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1969 and attended Ferris State College and Washtenaw Community College.  He received his Associate’s degree in Commercial Art and was a licensed builder, spending the majority of his career as a carpenter at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.  Ned and his wife Lisa (Peffers) Blacklaw were high school sweethearts, married for 48 years at the time of his death.  He was a loving and devoted husband and caring father of his three girls.  Ned loved to fish, hunt, and woodwork and usually could be found tinkering around the house on some project or challenging himself with a newspaper crossword.  He had an amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh that could brighten a room.  Ned always had a joke or pun at the ready and could bring a smile to almost any situation.  He is already and will always be deeply loved and missed by many, but especially the four women for which he was the center of the universe.

His Family… Ned will be missed by his wife; Lisa (Peffers) Blacklaw; his children, Rachel (Philip Jurva) Blacklaw, Hilary (Corey) Bringman, Elise (Timothy) Gramza; grandchildren; Cyan Blacklaw-Jurva, Eero Blacklaw-Jurva, Brock Spaulding, Reid Spaulding, Tyler Bringman, Zoey Bringman, Paxton Gramza, Wesley Gramza, and Kelvin Gramza; siblings, Cindy (Ken) Beachamp, Teri (Karl) Schillinger, Stuart (Cindy) Blacklaw, Sherrie (Terry) Pokela and Maralyn Holmberg; and many other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents; Florence and Edward Blacklaw; and sister Vickie Blacklaw Drummond.

His Farewell… Ned’s family and friends will gather for a private service to celebrate his life. Memorial contributions are suggested to The American Heart or Lung Association.  Please leave a message of comfort for Ned’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
