Her Legacy… Ellen Geneva Fredenburg, age 85, passed away January 23, 2025. She was born on March 31, 1939 in Manila, Arkansas to John and Mildred (Barber) Owen. Geneva married William “Bill” Fredenburg on September 24, 1995 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She enjoyed traveling around the country. Geneva owned a salon for many years until she retired. She was a resident of Brighton for over 40 years. Geneva instilled in her family the importance of giving back and being a part of a community. She volunteered for a variety of groups. Geneva was devoted to veteran causes. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and served in local and district offices. Geneva was awarded Member of the Year 2019. She used her baking talents to make pies for a variety of veterans’ events and pour the money raised back into the Auxiliary. Geneva was part of a pool league for over 30 years. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family volunteering and baking Christmas cookies together. She will be remembered as Mama bear, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Her Family… Geneva will be missed by her children, Cindy (Mark) Kaye, Kevin (Sharon) Harvey, Jerry (Deb) Harvey, Mike (Claudia) Harvey; stepchildren, Tim Fredenburg. LuAnne (Randy) Pearsall; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Bill Owen, Larry Owen, and Glenda Smith. Geneva is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Fredenburg of 29 years; and daughter, Kathryn Hayes.
Her Farewell… Geneva’s family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025 from 12-4pm at the American Spirit Centre in Brighton.
