Esther Cissney Mayer, of Brighton, passed away January 21st, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Her long battle with many cancers ended, and she is now able to rest peacefully. She was 63 years old, born on October 23rd, 1961, to parents George Sr and Helen (Smiley) Cissney.
Esther was a selfless woman, known for her kindness, generosity, compassion for animals, independence and sense of humor. She dedicated her life to raising her two children, her family and helping others any time she could. She loved numbers and was an accountant for over 20 years. In addition to working and caring for her children, she enjoyed reading a good book, rollerblading or riding her bicycle at the park and never turned down a camping or road trip. One of her favorite places to camp was at Tawas Point State Park because she loved lighthouses.
Her love and devotion to her family, friends, and community has left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Esther Cissney Mayer was predeceased by her father; George Cissney Sr., mother; Helen (Smiley) Cissney. sister;Rexann Cissney, sister-in-law; Bernadine Cissney. She is survived by her daughter; Christeenia Mayer (Alex), son; Charles Mayer, brother; George Cissney Jr., Nephews; Timothy Cissney (Jessica), George Cissney III (Rachel), Nieces; Angie Bebee (Bruce), Heather Cissney, Michelle Cissney. She also leaves behind many great nieces, nephews, extended family members, loving friends and her beloved dog Pheona.
Esther will be buried at the Brighton Hills Cemetery with a grave side service on January 23rd, 2025, at 1:30 pm, with Pastor Jeff Howard officiating. A celebration of Esther’s life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, warmth, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
