Frank Rickman Woody, 81, passed December 23, 2020. He was born April 12, 1939, in Hot Springs, North Carolina to Noah Woody and Grace (Plemmons) Woody. Frank married the love of his life, Penny M. (Mack), on May 8, 1982, in Trenton, Michigan.
Frank will be missed by his wife, Penny; his children, Robin (John) Gaughran (Mother Felicia), Scott Woody (Mother Felicia), Donald (Natalie) Mack, Teri (Bernie) Tuttle; grandchildren, Ciera Lauren Mack, Elizabeth Prudence Tuttle, McCaffrey Margaret Tuttle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Grace Woody and his brother Glen (Red) Woody.
Frank grew up on a tobacco farm in Ashville, NC. He later moved to River Rouge, MI where he completed high school. After high school he joined the U.S. Airforce where he served four years. In 1966 he became a Southgate police officer and spent his work life serving and protecting the community until his retirement.
Although committed to his work, Frank treasured his time with family and friends. He loved family gatherings and connecting with friends. Holidays, birthdays or spontaneous get-togethers provided great joy, but let’s be honest Frank loved golf. He loved his weekly golf league, the annual trip to Myrtle Beach with Scott and friends and an incredible once in a lifetime trip to Pebble Beach. Frank loved the outdoors, boating and fishing with his son Donald. They spent time on the water or simply talking about approaches to catching fish. For his daughters he cherished walking Robin and Teri down the aisle at their respective weddings. Frank was also a huge fan of all Michigan sports teams.
Beyond all Frank loved his wife Penny, life, family and friends. He was a devoted and loving husband and they were inseparable often seen out and about in the Brighton community. Frank loved their time together, whether traveling, visiting friends, eating out or simply spending time at home. For him Penny was his anchor and greatest joy. Frank was also deeply rooted in his Catholic faith often volunteering at St Patrick Catholic Parrish.
Frank’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 4:00-7:00pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel.
