His Legacy… Frank Joseph Zlamal, age 70, passed away June 28, 2021. He was born on January 3, 1951 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada to Francis and Marie (Uher) Zlamal. Frank married the love of his life, Jackie Oehmke, in 1972 in Glenwood, IL. Frank’s early automotive mechanic years led to his owning and operating Franx Machine Worx for over three decades. He specialized in high performance motorcycle engines. In 2000, he was recruited for engine design and Research and Development by Federal Mogul in Plymouth, MI until his retirement in 2019. Even in his retirement his passion for precision continued, enhancing the performance of engines from New Zealand to England, with several states in between. Frank loved spending time with his family and being “Papa” to little Charlie became his top priority. Frank will be remembered as an inventor and mentor to many and missed by all who knew and loved him.
His Family… Frank leaves behind his wife, Jackie; children, Lynde (Charles) Gittins, Jaime Zlamal; and grandchildren, Charles Frank and a granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Traughber, Nina Geraci, Thomas Zlamal, and Paul Zlamal. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie.
His Farewell… Frank’s family and friends will gather on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 2-8PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11 AM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel with a gathering beginning at 10AM until the time of service. Frank will be laid to rest at St. Patrick Calvary Cemetery in Brighton, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gift of Life or St. Patrick Catholic Church for the pregnancy help clinic.
