His Legacy… Gary Ian Burton, 75, passed away May 9, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan to Herman Burton and Roslyn (Friedman) Burton. Gary married the love of his life, Sheri-lyn Westlund, on July 22, 1984, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Gary was a wonderful and loving husband. He supported his wife Sheri-lyn’s passion for horses, gifting her a beautiful Arabian horse named Echo one Christmas. Gary was a talented photographer and enjoyed photographing horse shows that he attended. He loved animals and was a loving “dog dad” to many beloved fur babies through the years. Gary was a member of the Eastern Michigan Arabian Association, West Highland Terrier Club, Southeast Michigan Highland Terrier Club, and the Scottish Terrier Club of Michigan. He was very easy-going, friendly and welcoming; he had a calming presence about him. Gary was incredibly thoughtful and would make beautiful gifts for his loved ones with the photographs that he took. Gary was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

His Family… Gary will be missed by his wife, Sheri-lyn Westlund-Burton; his sisters, Donna (Don) Goldstein, Barbara Burton; and numerous extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Roslyn Burton.
