George Richard Earhart, 62, of South Lyon, MI passed away on April 18th after a long battle of esophageal cancer. George passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
George was born on March 18th in 1962, and dedicated his life to serving his country, community, and most importantly, his family. Following high school, he immediately enlisted in the US Army in 1981, where he served in Germany and Alaska. In 1988, he began his career as a police officer with the City of Dearborn, where he carried out a decorated career serving on the special operations team and retiring as a Sergeant in 2008. As his children would say, “Dad loved being a cop.”
George met the love of his life, Nancy, on a blind date in 1991. They quickly fell in love and together they raised an honorable family with George Jr, Allen, Lisa, and Samantha. Anyone that met George quickly realized what a devoted father he was. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the light of his life. George is predeceased by his father George Henry Earhart, and is survived by his wife Nancy, his children George Jr, Allen, Lisa (Justin), Samantha (Peter), and grandchildren Tyler, Blake, Luke, and Addison.
Services will be held at 242 Community Church in Brighton, MI on Friday, April 26th. George’s family kindly asks for RSVP’s to his celebration using the link below. In lieu of flowers, George has requested donations be made to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation in his honor.
