Georgiann (Recko) Pezzoni

Her Legacy… Georgiann Pezzoni, 84, passed away on April 4, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stanley and Helen (Vagel) Recko. Georgiann attended St. Catherine Elementary School, Hoban Dominican High School, and St. John’s College in Cleveland. She earned her degree in early elementary education with a minor in music and carried her love for children into both her work and everyday life.

A devoted Catholic, Georgiann was deeply involved in her parish at St. Mary Catholic Church, helping bring communion to those who couldn’t leave their homes. She also helped start the Befriender program at St. John the Baptist in Ypsilanti, offering support and companionship to those in need. Georgiann married her husband, Ronald Pezzoni, on September 23, 1961, sharing 46 wonderful years together. She had a natural talent for decorating and handy work, even handling some of the electrical work in her home. As devoted sports family, Georgiann, Ron, and their daughter Kim, spent many family vacations at baseball tournaments, always cheering from the sidelines and ready to help with practice on the field.

Above all, Georgiann loved being with her grandchildren—playing with them, caring for them, and celebrating them. She will be remembered for her generosity, devotion, and the steady love she gave to her family, friends, and community.

Her Family… Georgiann will be missed by her children, Ronald Pezzoni, Kimberly (Chris) Liepold; daughter-in-law, Mary Pezzoni; sister, Debra Barret; grandchildren, Alexis (Colton Grivetti) Magnusson, Veronica (Nathan Skulley) Pezzoni, Sydney Pezzoni, Casey (Adrienne Head) Pezzoni, Nate Liepold, and Kellen Judd; great-grandchild, Kasey Pezzoni; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Pezzoni; parents, Stanley and Helen Pezzoni; and sister, Patricia Recko

Her Farewell… Georgiann’s family and friends will gather on Wednesday, April 09, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney, Michigan. (Gathering begins at 10:00 AM) Father Dan Kogut will serve as the celebrant.
