Her Legacy… Gertraude (Traudel) Eleanor Seitter (Hanel), age 91, of Pinckney, formally of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. She was born in Pirna by Dresden, Germany on March 3, 1934. Traudel came to the United States for one year in 1956, where she met Egon Seitter, also from Germany in Washington D.C., who immigrated with his parents in 1955, to the United States. She finally made the decision to marry Egon and the couple were married in Switzerland, they both became American citizens and shared 54 years together. They had two boys, Ralph and Michael while living in Maryland until 1970, when they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Egon founded and established his own electronic company Inmet Corp. Traudel worked for several years in a local bank until she joined Egon in the company. Traudel and Egon worked together for the next 20 years until their retirement after the success of the company and it was sold. They downsized and moved from Ann Arbor to Pinckney, MI in 2001. They truly enjoyed the travels every summer to their lake home in Northern Michigan, to Europe and around the world. Her hobbies included gardening, crochet, and knitting, all around outdoor activities like hiking and biking. For the last 12 years she enjoyed their beloved Havanese & Maltese name Micky. No matter how many years Traudel lived in the United States, she maintained her German accent that many who met her adored, along with her smile.
Her Family… Traudel is preceded in death by her son Michael, in 1979, and husband Egon Seitter, suddenly in 2012. Traudel is survived by son, Ralph Seitter also of Pinckney; three grandchildren, Kyle (Shawna) Seitter, Danielle (Matt) Schwarze and Ryan (Abby) Seitter, all residing in Traverse City. She also had five great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, nephews and nieces who all live in Germany.
Her Farewell… Traudel’s family and friends will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
