Porter, Golda Jean
Howell, Michigan
Her Legacy… Golda Jean Porter, lovingly known as “Jean,” passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 90. Jean was born on September 19, 1935, in Detroit to John Decaminada and Eva Decaminada. On April 16, 1988, she married the love of her life, Ralph Porter, in Livonia. Jean will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her Christian faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. Her gentle spirit and caring heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She found great joy in nature—watching birds, especially bluebirds, taking peaceful walks, and tending to her flower gardens. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Bordine’s Garden Center, where she would sit quietly with her daughter and admire the beauty of the flowers around her. Jean was also a devoted fan of Frank Sinatra and enjoyed listening to his music throughout her life.
For more than 20 years, Jean was a faithful member of Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She especially enjoyed gathering with the church’s Prime Timers group for fellowship and Bible study. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and a source of strength and comfort. Always impeccably dressed and well put together, Jean took pride in her appearance and carried herself with grace and dignity. She also had a special love for Boston Terriers and shared her life with seven of them over the years. Each held a treasured place in her heart and brought her much companionship and joy.
One of Jean’s favorite quotations reflected the depth of her faith and understanding of life: “Much-Afraid, I have already warned you that love and pain go together, for a time at least. If you would know Love, you must know Pain too.”
Jean’s legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion to family will be cherished and remembered always.
Her Family… Jean will be missed by her loving husband, Ralph Porter; her children, Lora Wilke, Donald Nalepka (Jolie Moberg), Barbara Walsh; grandchildren, Samuel, Beau, Wood, Erin, Joshua, Jacob, Emily, Gary, Gregory; great grandchildren, Lydia, Norah; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva Decaminada; brother, Carl Decaminada.
Her Farewell… Jean’s family and friends will gather from 10:00 AM until the time of her Community Farewell Service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brighton, Michigan. Pastor Art Hunt will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to LACASA Center or Michigan Anti Trafficking Project.
