Louria, Harry
Pinckney, MI
Harry Thomas Louria, 84, passed away peacefully in his home on January 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan to Harry Louria and Sophie (David) Louria. Harry married the love of his life, Tana Curaba, on September 7, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan.
Harry met his beautiful wife, Tana, in, not surprisingly, a library. In their nearly 60 years of marriage, he was often found with his nose between the pages of a good western novel. His love for his wife might, if anything, only be compared to his love for his children, and treasured grandchildren.
In his day, “Papa” was a phenomenal basketball and baseball player who was recruited by both the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. He turned each down, choosing instead to honor his country by joining the United States Air Force. As an honorable vet, Harry believed a hard day’s work was good for the soul. In heaven, you’re likely to find him enjoying a beautiful breeze outside his cottage, while waiting for a firm tug on his fishing rod. In his absence, the world will suffer from a practical joke or two and much laughter.
Harry will be missed by his wife, Tana Louria; his children, Michael (Sue) Louria, Tom (Bonnie) Louria, Matthew (Laurie) Louria, Mark (Kimi) Louria, Mary (Jim) Wroten; sister, Judith Neideffer; grandchildren, Joel, Matt, Michael, Bethany, Emily, John, Joe, Benjamin, Jude, Jonas, Jay, Isabel, Mira; great-grandchildren, Owen, Olive, and Griffin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sophie Louria; daughter, Christine Kratz; and son-in-law, Joe Kratz.
Harry’s family and friends will gather on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 4:00PM-7:00PM, and Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 12:00PM-3:00PM (3PM Rosary) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 23, 2023, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Brighton, MI. Father John Rocus will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please leave a message of comfort for Harry’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
