Her Legacy… Helen Louise Charboneau, 76, passed away July 21, 2026. She was born on January 18, 1950, in Howell, Michigan to Robert Milliken and Helen Heselschwerdt. Helen married James Charboneau on October 16, 1987, in Pinckney, Michigan. During her career Helen managed the deli at the Brighton Meijer and was a manager of Family Dollar and Maxway Department stores. Helen lived in Hampstead, North Carolina since 1993, only recently moving back home to Michigan. Helen enjoyed bowling and golfing and was in a league for both sports. She loved penguins, playing cards, acrylic painting and crocheting. Helen loved the ocean and could spend hours sitting on the sand watching the waves. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, Helen loved to make people laugh and had a great collection of “dad jokes”. Above all, she cherished her family and adored her many grandchildren. Her beautiful blue eyes sparkled with warmth and kindness, reflecting the joy she brought to everyone around her. Helen was a joy to know, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family… Helen will be missed by her children, Judd Scheffler, Jesse (Sarah) Scheffler, Ernest (Siriwan) Scheffler, Belinda (Bill) North, April (Fred) Linahan, Shirley Potter, Ashley Charboneau; life partner, Arthur “Butch” Potter; siblings, Patrick (Brenda) Divine, Kathy (Lee) Freitas; and many, beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Charboneau; her 1st husband, Jesse Scheffler Sr.; parents, Robert Milliken and Helen Devine; sons, Domonic Scheffler and Kyle Potter; and siblings, Barbara, Robert, Patricia, Rita, Linda and William.
Her Farewell… Helen’s family and friends will gather Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Pinckney, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00AM (10:00AM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Pinckney, Michigan. Deacon Dave Piggott will serve as celebrant.
