Helen Jeanne (Showerman-Lucas) McKowen

Helen Jeanne McKowen passed away July 15th, 2025. Born January 26, 1940, to James and Helen Lucas, Jeanne graduated salutatorian of Fowlerville High in 1958. After graduating from MSU, she taught music at Frost Junior High School in Jackson, MI. She married Jim Showerman and raised sons Sam and Chris in Stockbridge. From 1977-2004 Jeanne taught music, art, and computers at Webberville Elementary School. After retirement she married Frank Mckowen with whom she traveled and tuned pianos. A member of People’s Church and MSU Choral Union, she is best remembered for her kindness, humor, creativity, encouragement, and the catchy songs she wrote to teach concepts to her students. Jeanne is survived by sons Sam & Chris, daughter-in-law Cheryl, grandchildren Luke, Allison, and Tyler, and great Grandchildren Layla and Colt, and step children Scott (Christina) McKowen and Carol (Tom) Loveless and their son Justin.
