Ida Mae (Gersky) DeKoning

Ida M. DeKoning, age 83, of Howell, Michigan, passed away on January 23, 2026. She was born on November 22, 1942, in Wayne, Michigan, the daughter of James and Lesta Jayne Gersky.

Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry R. DeKoning, whom she married in New Boston, Michigan, in 1962. She was a devoted and loving mother to Harry R. DeKoning II of Washington, Janis (Michael) Pusateri of Pennsylvania, and Kristie DeKoning Hanus of Michigan.

She was a cherished grandmother to John, Megan, Jacob, Isabella, Alexandria, Juliana, Nicholas, Brandon, and Rachael, and a proud great-grandmother to Emery and Cole.

Ida is survived by her siblings Gerald Gersky, Patricia Geldmacher, and Lesta Finch. She was also blessed to be an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lesta Jayne Gersky, and her siblings Susan Adams, James Gersky Jr., Michael Gersky, Margaret Clark, and Dusty Bozanic.

Throughout her working years, Ida held various positions in finance. In retirement, she generously volunteered her time with her neighborhood HOA. She found joy in baking, gardening, camping, American history, and reading.

Ida will always be remembered for her deep love of family, her strength, her lifelong quest for knowledge, and her fierce tenacity. She will be greatly missed beyond measure.
