James Charles Hough, of Bear Lake, MI, died September 20, 2023, at the age of 72.
He was born in Dearborn, MI, the son of William and Leona Hough.
In 1962, Jim’s father moved his family from Canton, MI to a dairy farm in Cohoctah, MI. Jim continued to farm until 2018. He raised hogs, cattle, lambs, chickens and planted grains and hay. He sold the farm in the fall of 2020 to live his retirement years in the beautiful town of Bear Lake with his wife Sherry and near their son James and his family. He enjoyed the three years they had together.
Jim had a passion for farming and hunting; he especially loved bow hunting for Whitetail with his son Michael. He enjoyed a few Elk hunts in Montana. Jim always took October 20th off to Pheasant hunt on the farm with his oldest son James. Jim liked salmon fishing up north in the fall with his boys.
Jim worked at Lotts Elevator where he mixed animal feed and dried grain. He had the ability to fix just about anything. He had a contagious laugh and a unique personality. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Sherry Hough; siblings Judith Cozad, William (Kristin) Hough, John (Candy) Hough, Robert (Terry) Hough; Children James (Jodie) Hough; grandchildren Madison (Nick) Hough, Keira Hough, Houston Hough, Derek Hough, Preston Hough and Jace Hough and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, son Michael Hough, grandson Chance Chapman and nephew Joseph Hough.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 21st at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Howell, MI. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Jowett Family Funeral Home, Benzonia, MI.
