James W. Taylor, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 18th, after a long illness. Jim grew up in Ann Arbor and had many local friends. He spent all of his working life in Ann Arbor; over 25 years with the Ann Arbor News and 30 years with his wife, Jan, in their business J and J Advertising, Inc. Together, they published ann arbor BUSINESS MONTHLY, Independent Times and Our House Magazine before closing the business at the end of 2018. Jim enjoyed family, golfing and photography.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Janet (Wild) Taylor. Also surviving are his children Julie Taylor (Chip Hadler), Cathy Taylor, Anne Taylor (Rick Nichols), Laura Taylor, Joseph (Lisa) Taylor and Emily (Eric) Wagner. Grandchildren are: Taylor (Candice) Hooper, Troy Hooper, Shawna (David) McFetridge, Sarah (Geoff Holstad) Darnell, Cole Wagner, and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Laurel Beyer (Fred Wark). He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Taylor.
A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Arbor Hospice or the American Diabetes Association. The family will hold a celebration of Jim’s life at a later date.
