Her Legacy… Jane Florence (Ellis) Colella, age 72, passed away on June 16, 2026. Jane was born on February 21, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan to Edwin Ellis and Mary (Barnard) Ellis. She married the love of her life, Tony Colella, on June 11, 1975, in Westland, Michigan, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Jane will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her faith and family, as well as her caring and nurturing spirit. She cherished time spent with family and friends and often expressed her love through cooking and sharing meals with those she held dear. She took great pride in her home, especially in her beautiful flower gardens, which reflected her dedication and care. A lover of music, Jane could often be found tending to household tasks while listening to classic rock on WHMI. She also enjoyed animals, science-fiction movies, and spending time watching her favorite television programs. Above all, Jane's warmth, kindness, and love for others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Her Family… Jane will be missed by her loving husband, Tony Colella; her children, Antonio (Melissa) Colella, Dominic (Jennifer) Colella; mother, Mary Merciez; siblings, Joan (Thomas) Wood, Donna (Richard) Larabe; grandchildren, Adriana, Ava, Dominic, Corey, Antonio, Sara, Alexandra; great grandchildren, Hudson, Bennett; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Frederick Merciez.
Her Farewell… Jane’s family and friends will gather 3:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Howell, Michigan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10:30 AM (9:30 AM Gathering) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Howell, Michigan. Father Brett Ivey will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network).
