Her Legacy… Janet Marie Poznick, 84, passed away October 24, 2023. She was born on August 31, 1939, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Harold Steinbacher and Gwendolyn (Giltrow) Steinbacher. Janet married the love of her life, Lawrence Poznick, on October 7, 1961, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Janet worked as a nurse and was very giving, she loved helping people. She was very social and good natured. Janet was also quite fashionable, and always had coordinating shoes and purses to match her outfits. She was a fan of Notre Dame Football where her father played. She was also a U of M fan and enjoyed attending the games. Janet and her husband Larry went on yearly cruises and were “snowbirds”, with a winter home in Naples, Florida. She had a tight knit group of friends from high school that she was still very close with. Janet was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family… Janet will be missed by her children, Cheryl (Chuck) Nicholas, Kathleen (Frank) Gorski, Matt Poznick; sister, Judy Jereck; grandchildren, Christina (Ryan) Kerner, Caitlyn Nicholas, Andrew Gorski, Jonah Gorski; 7 nieces and 1 nephew. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Poznick; parents, Harold and Gwendolyn Steinbacher; sister-in-law, Sandra Buerk; brothers-in-law, Phil Buerk; and, John Jereck.
Her Farewell… Janet’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 3:00PM-8:00PM (7PM rosary) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel in Hamburg, Michigan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering) at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pinckney, Michigan. Father Dan Kogut will serve as celebrant.
