His Legacy… John Douglas Sawle, age 81, passed away April 18, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1939, in Detroit, MI to Percy and Muriel (Brown) Sawle. John proudly served his country in the Army. He married the love of his life, Christina Irland, on October 2, 2003 in Grand Blanc, MI. John retired from General Motors Gear and Axel in Hamtramck. In his spare time, he liked golfing, working with stain glass, woodworking, working in his yard, eating chocolate ice cream, and watching sports. He was a dedicated Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Michigan Wolverines fan. Most of all John, loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His Family… John leaves behind his wife, Christina; his children, Kristi (Mel) Haynes, James (Jaclyn) Sawle, Michael (Christine) Sawle; stepchildren, Danielle (Ricky) Spitz, Sarah Grzanowski; grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Klein, Derek Sawle, Eric Whitcomb, Nicole Sawle, Matthew Sawle; step grandchildren, Maxx Spitz, Quinn Spitz; and great grandson, Blake Shadowens. He is also survived by his nieces; Susan Browne and Sandi Tomlinson. John is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kenneth Sawle.
