John Schweizer Obituary

His Legacy…John William Schweizer, 76, passed away on March 13, 2026.  He was born on October 14,1949, in Detroit, Michigan to Alfred and Lois (Brugman) Schweizer. John married the love of his life, Margret Miller, on May 18, 1979, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  John will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in his family. He had a passion for hobbies that allowed him to build and create, including building model airplanes and enjoying his Lionel model trains. He also had a lifelong love of motorcycles and the freedom of the open road. In keeping with John’s wishes, he will always be remembered with the song “Sunday Morning Coming Down” by Johnny Cash,” a song that held special meaning to him. John’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His Family… John will be missed by his wife Margret Schweizer; his daughters Sherry (Mike) Batlemente and Jennifer Schweizer. His siblings, Kathleen (Jouko) Laitila and Mike (Laurie) Schweizer; grandchildren, Shannon (Amier) Hill, Haile Phillips, Rylie Phillips, and Ian Vance; Great grandchildren Kayden, Ka’Myla, Kingston, and Kartier; along with a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Lois Schweizer.

His Farewell… John’s Community Farewell will take place on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 3:00PM (2:00PM gathering) at Arise United Methodist Church, Pinckney.
